What's Really Going On?

Why are egg prices so high? The immediate answer that comes to mind is that there's an egg shortage. And why is there an egg shortage? Because millions of birds had to be culled due to the bird flu (medical name, avian influenza H5N1). At least that's what I used to think. But now I'm beginning to question that. Why are eggs $1.73 USD in Mexico and $3.34 USD in Canada? It seems reasonable to expect that theses border countries should be experiencing similar disease issues with their chickens and therefore also have egg shortages. So my question is, is our egg shortage here in the U.S. manufactured, so as to price gouge the consumer or am I just being paranoid? I'd love to know you thoughts, so please leave a comment or take the survey below.

Whether or not our increased egg prices and resulting shortages here in the U.S. is engineered or not, we here at Friendly Feathers Farm are doing what we can to increase our egg production. Have a look at our chicken coop expansion here.
